Products Types & Working Priniple

1.Evacuated Tube Collector (ETC) System.

Sudarshan Saur ETC System works on a simple principle 'Black body heat absorption principle'. The principle says, 'black colour absorbs maximum heat, more than any other colour'.

Solar water heating systems using vacuum tubes made of borosilicate glass with special coating to absorb the solar energy are called as Evacuated Tube Collector system (ETC Systems).

Vacuum tube, as shown in the sketch, is the main component, which absorbs solar energy. The vacuum tube is an assembly of two concentric, borosilicate glass tubes.

Air between the gap of two glass tubes is evacuated. It results in high level of vacuum, which acts as the best insulation to minimize the heat loss from inner tube. The black coating on the inner tube absorbs the solar energy and transfers it to the water. The water on upper side of Vacuum Tube becomes hot and thus lighter, so it starts moving upwards in the tank. At the same time cold water, which is heavy, comes downward from the tank and is stored at the bottom. The phenomenon is called as natural thermosyphon circulation, which occurs in every tube.

2. Working Principle of Flat Plate Collector (FPC) System :

Black colour absorbs maximum energy incident on it as compared to any other colour. This fundamental property of black colour absorbing the energy is called as “Black body heat absorption Principle.” Sudarshan Saur works on this basic principle.

The energy of sun rays is absorbed by black coated absorber panel in solar collector. Due to which absorber panel becomes hot. This heat is conducted to the water flowing in the tubes of absorber Panel and the water becomes hot. The water so heated is carried to storage tank.

This water circulation from solar absorber panel to storage tank is achieved by two ways.

A) Thermosiphon (Natural) circulation
B) Forced (Pump) circulation

A) Thermosiphon circulation:

Hot water is lighter than cold water hence the hot water tends to rise upward. And cold water tries to become downward. This internal flow of water particles is called thermo siphon circulation.

In designing smaller capacity systems up to 2500 liters per day (LPD) this thermo siphon circulation principle is utilized. The storage tank is placed at higher level than collector box. As the water becomes hot in the tubes of absorber panel, it flows upwards in storage tank. The same is replaced by relatively heavier cold water in storage tank. So the flow of water continues till all the water in storage tank attains highest temperature equal to the temperature in the tubes of absorber panel.

This is a total natural phenomenon, it is not needed to start or stop this circulation. It will automatically start in the morning hours when sun rays fall on collector box, and it will automatically stop when sun rays are not there. Due to this peculiar feature, system does not require any moving part and it is almost maintenance free throughout its life span.
