What Is Solar Energy?
Solar energy is radiant energy that is produced by the sun. Every day the sun
radiates, or sends out, an enormous amount of energy. The sun radiates more
energy in one second than people have used since the beginning of time!
Where does the energy come from that constantly radiates from the sun? It comes
from within the sun itself. Like other stars, the sun is a big ball of gases
mostly hydrogen and helium atoms. The hydrogen atoms in the sun's core combine
to form helium and generate energy in a process called nuclear fusion.

History of Solar Energy
People have harnessed solar energy for centuries. As early as the 7th
century B.C., people used simple magnifying glasses to concentrate the light of
the sun into beams so hot they would cause wood to catch fire.
More than 100 years ago in France, a scientist used heat from a solar collector
to make steam to drive a steam engine. In the beginning of this century,
scientists and engineers began researching ways to use solar energy in earnest.
One important development was a remarkably efficient solar boiler invented by
Charles Greeley Abbott, an American astrophysicist, in 1936

Photovoltaic cells
A solar cell (or a "photovoltaic" cell) is a device that converts photons
from the sun (solar light) into electricity. In general, a solar cell that
includes both solar and non solar sources of light (such as photons from
incandescent bulbs) is termed a photovoltaic cell. Fundamentally,

Progress In Solar Technology
A commonly known fact about solar energy is that the collection is not
terribly efficient, only able to collect about 10% of the energy they are
subjected to; today solar cells or photovoltaic cells are able to collect more
like 20% of the energy they are subjected to.
Another fact about solar energy is that the cells are only able to collect the
energy for electricity in full or part; the sun, clouds, mist, and fog will
limit or diminish the solar cell's ability to absorb solar energy.

"Solar Power Versus Generator – The
Choice:"
The initial cost of a solar power system will be greater than that
of a generator system. This is often the reason people install a
generator rather than choose solar power. One must look beyond the
initial cost, however, to get the full comparison of solar power versus
generator.
* Solar power, once installed, has little maintenance or further
expense. There is no fuel to purchase, since the sun's energy fuels the
system.

The Importance Of Solar Energy Advantages
There are many ways that solar energy
advantages can work for you. First of all, the easiest way for you to
take advantage of solar energy advantages is to install solar panels on
your home. You can easily install these on your roof or put them in when
you build a new house.

"Solar Power Home Tips"
The solar power home benefits are:
* Solar power is actually cheaper.
* Its a fact Solar panels actually work better in winter, because of the
huge temperature change in the weather.
* It does not need to be sunny outside for solar power to work
efficiently, because solar panels use the changes in temperature in
order to create electricity.

Solar Power – Fun Facts"
Fun facts about solar power are popular at
any age. People want serious information about solar power, but
sometimes, even the serious can be expressed in fun facts.
Fun facts on solar power include things such as the fact that, in a
single hour, enough sunlight reaches the earth's surface to meet the
entire world's energy needs for a full year. Imagine! That information
comes from the American Solar Energy Society.
